Thank you for your interest in the International Medical School Conference. I'm Shermaine L. Hutchins, MPH, but you can call me Hutch. As a second-year medical student at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine and a military veteran who served as a combat medic, I've experienced first-hand the challenges and triumphs of a journey in medicine. My educational journey, enriched by a Master of Public Health from Yale University and my roles as a healthcare executive and health commissioner, has deeply informed my understanding of the unique challenges faced by international medical graduates (IMGs).

I created this conference because I'm wholeheartedly committed to supporting my peers in their pursuit of medical careers in the U.S. This is evident in my work prior to and as a current student of AUA. This event is designed to offer unpresidented insights from U.S. residency program directors, current STEP exam experts, and successful IMGs who have successfully navigated this journey. My vision for this conference is not just to provide an educational experience but to serve as a stepping stone for IMGs, empowering you to navigate your journey with confidence and achieve your dreams of practicing medicine in the U.S. Join us, and take an important step towards realizing your aspirations, supported by the collective wisdom and experience of myself and other esteemed professionals in the field.
